I was told by a resident in Barden Road that the original water surge was six feet high!!



Below, the Angel Hotel on the right is now Poundstretchers.




The house below is in Barden Road, not Avebury Avenue as stated.
The water level reached about four feet up the wall in the house.








Below shows the lower end of Avebury Avenue, on the right are now apartment blocks.

The lighter coloured building is the Army Drill Hall where my grandfather was Regimental Sergeant Major in the middle 1920's, before taking the position of Tonbridge Schools Attendance Officer.
